Okay, so I figured I should put up some of my pics from Otakon. I only cosplayed two people - Kureno (from Furuba) and Nanami (from Utena). And lo and behold... I was the only one there dressed as either character. XDD (Go me!) (Nyte, just let me know if you need me to resize any of these. I have a widescreen, so I'm not sure what's too big for some of you and what's not.) This is me. ^^ This is me with other Utena cosplayers (Juri and Utena)!! Me with Erin and Lina. Now I'm dressed as Kureno... who is, of course, being ignored by the Mabudachi Trio. *sniff* ;_; I wuff you, Kureno-kun! At least the little bird (nicknamed Ku-chan) loves Kureno. XD I *do* know the spoiler, but figured a bird would be helpful for anyone who didn't know who Kureno was... I SPREAD KURENO LOVE, YO!! ^^;; And in *this* picture, Kureno looks very disinterested... probably because he's hungry. XD (Well, it *was* almost noon.) I have more pictures (I scanned about 130) for anyone who's interested. Let me know, and I'll try to put up some more. (I have a ton more in my Nanami outfit. I think Lina already put up most of the Furuba pics.)

Gawsh, both Ha'ri and Aaya look hawt-I can tell why Shii was jealous! Hey...how old are you guys? I can't guess. Don't answer if its too probing. Where do you all live? USA somewhere? Don't worry... This isn't prying. Anyways, I'm currently 17 years old (will be 18 in October). And yes I do live in the US...California to be specific. lol And yay! Mel put up some pictures too!

Well... I figured I should spread the Otakon love, too! ^^;
And Ayame/dudie (what would you like me to call you?), I do live in the US... and I'm 20. (Ugh... so old.) Oh... and you don't have to call me Miyabita... most people call me Mel, Miya-chan, or some variation of Melissa/Miyabita (kinda like a pick your poison thing).

Woahh! Those pictures are really cute, Mel-chan! You look so good in your costumes... Did you make them, or have em ordered? *Envy envy envy*

Thank you!!! *hugs*
For Kureno, I went to a consignment shop to look for clothes that matched his volume 14 clothing (on the cover). We got the wig from a store about 30 minutes away, and then I had it taken to my hairdresser and cut. The bangs are a little off; I might end up looking for a better wig next year. Oh well...
For Nanami... oh my god... do you really want to know all the stories? *clears throat*
A neighbor made the actual jacket for free, but I had to go out and find all the materials first, which was many adventures in itself. (Oh, was it ever.) The cord we got from a fishing store, and dad carved the thing that dangles from it out of wood. Next, I went and got shorts, but when I matched them up to the jacket, there was an obvious color difference. So, the day before I left for the convention, I went out to Michael's Arts and Crafts store, and got spray-on fabric paint. It did the trick just perfectly. ^^
I bought black tights for the legs (and crossed my fingers that they wouldn't rip). The shoes... well, I couldn't find anything around here except summer shoes... and I needed boots. So, I looked on ebay and tried to find something. I found those shoes for $11 (shipping included) BRAND NEW. They were tan boots, made of leather, with zippers on the side. So, I got yellow and white paint and had to paint the things at least five times over. We took some ribbon and hot glued the bows onto them, but they just about killed my feet. -_-;; But at least they worked out okay. ^^
For the swords, we used Sculpey to make the handles, because the sword handles themselves are really elaborate. After baking the sculpey, I had to pain the handles. Dad carved the blades out of wood, and I painted those, too. Then we hot glued the blades into the sword handles.
They also wear the rose signet rings in Utena. I had one on my finger, though you can't see it. It was cut from a plastic pipe and painted silver. Then, I designed the rose signet out of posterboard and put it onto the ring.
But really, it was a lot of fun making the costume! ^^ I can see why people really like to cosplay. ^^

Whoa! Cosplaying must be hard work, but satisfying when you do all your things.

Cosplaying must be hard work, but satisfying when you do all your things. LOL. Melya-chan would be awesome! ^^ You could seriously call me that... it would be unique... Em-chan! ^_~ I'm glad that you liked the pics! Cosplaying... well, it depends. Sometimes, people will make the costume on their own and sometimes you can order it made from another person. Depending on the resources you have available to you, cosplaying can either be incredibly easy or a bit hard. The most rewarding thing is going to the convention and have people recognize who you are almost instantly, calling out your name and then begging to take your picture. ^^ (When I was going down in the hotel elevator, this one girl got on and was so excited to see her favorite character from Utena - me - on the same elevator. XD) I really wish I knew how to sew, then maybe it would be easier for me to make costumes. I might try figuring it out this year. Maybe I can spend less money that way. ^^

Meli!!!! Arigatou for the pictures! I'm so glad you shared the Furuba Love with the forum. ^____^
New Ayame-san!!! I was the Ayame in the pictures, and the person who used to RP him on the forum. Congrats on the new role. I'm so glad Erin will have someone to write with. Anyhow, her and I were totally SMEX! HAHA!
I live in the US as well, and I'm near the Baltimore area... so the convention isn't too far away. ^^ Glad you enjoyed the pictures. Ta ta!

(Hey, I just realized... I addressed you so impolitely... Calling you Mel-chan, how rude of me! Mel-san, Mel-san... *pokes self*) Woah! That sure sounds like a lot of work... But it really looks great... Congrats. I would soo love to cosplay with you guys, it would be great... But Canada is much too lost of a land. A far, far away place from Otakon. A real shame. PS the shoes, I know you had to do a lot of work on em, but they look GREAT. PPS what about the rest of you? Did you order your costumes, make 'em, ebay 'em, have your neighbor make 'em...? PPS Im sorry you guys, but I just cannot get over the fact of how SUPERB your furuba cosplay looks. Really, a big fat kiss and congratulations to you all. (Honestly, I keep looking back at the pictures, and I cannot help but smile.)

Well, I made my Naruto one but borrowed the headband from a friend. My Furuba one was stuff I stole from the drama closet at school...I mean borrowed, along with a nice wig and the added touch of a lab coat which was borrowed as well if I recall correctly. I made the name tag though.
